About John Schacter, Ph.D.
Dr. Schacter has trained thousands of teachers and administrators across the United States. He earned his Ph.D. from UCLA in educational psychology and graduated with highest honors in Literature from UC San Diego. Before starting his own consulting company, Dr. Schacter served as vice president of research for the Milken Family Foundation, Senior Fellow at Stanford's Educational

A frequent presenter on issues pertaining to literacy instruction, teacher quality, and data driven decision making, John has been invited to testify to numerous state legislatures. He has appeared on National Public Radio, NBC News, Radio Disney, and his research has been cited in USA Today, The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun and other newspapers and magazines across the country. Dr. Schacter has published over 40 research articles, and is the author of three books. He was a former first grade teacher and summer school principal. John lives with his wife and son in Palo Alto, California.
